That is exactly what Model Context Protocol — MCP — is doing for AI right now.
MCP is an open standard created by Anthropic that defines how AI models like Claude connect to external tools, services, and data sources. Before MCP, every integration was custom: you wrote bespoke code to connect your AI to Gmail, then wrote different bespoke code to connect it to Notion, then again for GitHub. Each connection was its own mini-project.
